Italian Greyhound Club of America

The Italian Greyhound Club of America (IGCA) was founded in 1979 to preserve and protect the unique qualities of the Italian Greyhound and to share our knowledge with others. In addition to educating the public about the breed, our members participate in conformation, obedience, performance, health, and rescue events.

The IGCA is a member of the American Kennel Club. Members include breeders, owners, and fanciers who are committed to protecting the health, welfare, and lives of the Italian Greyhound. The IGCA actively supports canine health research and provides rescue assistance for Italian Greyhounds.

The IGCA produces a monthly Newsletter that is mailed via email and land mail.  In the future, you may begin to see posts from our newsletters find a place on this website!

Showcase Events

National Specialties showcase the Italian Greyhound breed in Conformation, Sweepstakes, Obedience, Rally, Lure Coursing, LGRA, and sometimes Agility.  The National rotates across the country and is hosted by the current year’s IGCA Show Committee. In 2023 we hosted the National Specialty in Asheville, NC., and in 2024, we will be in Colorado Springs, CO.

You will also have Regional Specialties and local events that will pop up from time-to-time in our “Events” section of the website.  Regional specialties are proposed and approved.  The IGCA offers trophy support during an all-breed cluster surrounding our regional specialties when possible.

Awards

In addition to our breed awards, the IGCA also celebrates our versatile breed with a stand-alone annual Versatility Award. We have regional specialties as proposed and approved. Sometimes, we offer trophy support during an all-breed cluster surrounding our regional specialties.

To learn more about this award, please review the Versatility requirements and past recipients under the “Events” section (coming soon).
